Joseph Cress/Iowa City Press-Citizen / USA TODAY NETWORK The Husker have a good mix of teams they will play in Lincoln Today the Big Ten announced the conference slate for this upcoming basketball season. As we covered in a previous article, the Huskers have a fairly manageable non conference schedule. Which is nice when you play in a basketball conference as tough as the Big Ten. So, without further adieu, here is the 2023-24 Nebraska Men’s Basketball Schedule. We have twenty games added on to...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images What Nebraska Needs to Do to Still Win 6 Games Off to a 1-2 start was not ideal for the Huskers this season while things just got worse losing both Gabe Ervin and Ramir Johnson for the season. Even with that bad news, I still feel that Nebraska has a great shot at making a bowl game. The West lacks a clear cut team and Nebraska’s remaining schedule outside of Michigan is very winnable. But if they are going to...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images We had a host of playmakers on Saturday, but these players in particular stood tall against the Huskies! This past weekend’s victory against Northern Illinois should have left every Husker fan overjoyed — unless you took the under — as it was a thorough beating of an overpowered MAC opponent. From the start, it was evident that the Huskies were outmatched. There were two players in particular I want to highlight who helped aid in NIU’s defeat. Heinrich Haarberg Heinrich...
Photo by C. Morgan Engel/NCAA Photos via Getty Images It was a good week for Husker Volleybal. It was a great weekend for sports for me! Not only did the Huskers win in both football and volleyball, but both of my sons won their football and soccer games and my students won their first football game as well. Speaking of volleyball, Merritt Beason was named B1G Player of the Week. She totaled up 32 kills in the two big games for the Huskers. Harper Murray...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images Anthony Grant returns to be presumed starter at I-back for the Huskers Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule announced that Nebraska’s top two running backs suffered season-ending injuries during the Huskers 35-11 victory over Northern Illinois. Early in the game, junior Rahmir Johnson suffered a dislocated shoulder while late in the game, sophomore Gabe Ervin, Jr. suffered a dislocated hip. Ervin missed most of 2021 due to injury and was still hampered last season by the injury. This moves senior Anthony...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images No Gus Johnson trying to create even more ways to mispronounce Boerkircher this week. After Fox selected Southern Cal at Colorado for a brunch-time kickoff for their Big Eleven AM broadcast, the network then selected the Michigan at Nebraska game for a 2:30 pm central time kickoff. That’s doubly good news for Husker fans since that likely means that Fox will be sending Jason Benetti, their best play-by-play college football announcer, to Lincoln to call the game with Brock Huard...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images Some major talent made it to the Boneyard to watch us thrash the Huskies! I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any college football program that wants to win. The better you recruit, the better your football team will be. It is a simple correlation that has proved itself true time & again. Nebraska has made no qualms in its efforts to locate talented recruits. From locating under-the-radar gems with elite athletic traits,...
Dylan Widger-USA TODAY Sports Plus, we have a town flooded with wine and some friends who “took over” a hotel for a shift It was a good weekend for Husker football and a really good weekend for the volleyball team. Matt Rhule’s guys took care of an opponent they should have. No one is Husker Nation is under any delusions that we are “back” but it was a step in the right direction. We saw hard-hitting defense, an emphasis on the run game (perhaps too...

Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images This week on Corn Nation’s Over Reaction, Greg and Hoss had a tougher opponent in stable internet connection than the Huskers had in the Huskies if Northern Illinois. Nebraska wins 35-11, but really the starting defense only gave up three points, and that was the offense’s fault. So, a solid showing by the defense. Hoss says the offensive line is getting better, and as some of the linemen heal up, offers an ideal lineup that could be an improvement. Greg...
Nebraska dug deep for this win Nebraska 3 vs Kentucky 1 – 25-14. 25-22, 23-25, 25-21 Nebraska cruised through two sets with high powered offense and never quit defense. Nebraska was exceptional. Kentucky went to the locker room after two sets and came back with fire. They gave Nebraska about all they could handle. This Kentucky team is better than their 21 ranking. These two teams played all out, go for everything, hit it harder than the last time mentality and made impressive efforts on...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Fense! I think this tweet sums up my thoughts about Nebraska’s 35-11 victory over Northern Illinois: BREAKING: Winning is fun! — Husker Mike (@Husker_Mike) September 17, 2023 It was fun. It was yet another dominating defensive performance, and while the offense was pedestrian at best, sophomore Heinrich Haarberg did what Jeff Sims didn’t do the first two weeks: not make an unforced error. (Yes, Haarberg did have a fumble inside his own five yard line, but that one goes...
