Nebraska Athletic Department The Huskers dominated in their 12 inning final fall ball game before the Red-White series. The Nebraska baseball team was back at it this weekend, taking on their 2nd and final opponent of the Fall Ball season in Cloud County CC on Saturday. The teams agreed upon a 12 inning matchup with the majority of starters going between 7-9 innings. This game actually felt like fall too, not the 96 degree scorcher like the week before against Omaha. We saw a lot...
Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images A Look at How Each Former Husker Did This Weekend As far as transactions goes, Week 5 was pretty eventful for our former Huskers. We saw Randy Gregory cut but then traded and Cam Jurgens land on injured reserve. But we also saw Ochaun Mathis come off injured reserve while Ben Stille and Khalil Davis were activated from the practice squad. Let’s see how each former Husker did in their Week 5 games. Nick Gates, Washington Commanders Nick Gates gets...
Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images Plus, we bring you articles on the tush push, a giraffe poop necklace and more! This week, I will be watching Ranchhand 3 run in his district cross country meet. His season started with hopes of qualifying for state as a team and potentially placing high enough to make it as an individual (in case the team didn’t qualify). Unfortunately, he has reaggravated a back injury he suffered as a freshman. He can still run but his performance has suffered...
Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images I dare say many Husker fans had similar “here we go again” reactions when the Huskers started turning the ball over in the fourth quarter against Illinois. Nevermind ESPN’s consistently overstated “win percentage” of 99%; Nebraska’s offense was taking a hard left turn towards the banana peel. Our Jon Johnston tried to claim that there was no way Illinois was going to come back barring some sort of “horrible screw-up” by Nebraska, to which I responded: “Have you completely forgotten...
Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images This week’s episode has Greg and Hoss giving their thoughts on Nebraska’s 20-7 road win over Illinois. The victory is Nebraska’s third on the season and first in the Big Ten. But with a well-positioned bye week, there should be plenty of hope building as opponents like Northwestern, Purdue, and Michigan State loom. Greg was at the game in Champaign with his oldest son, and that wind was no joke. Biting and right in their faces, minutes after the opening...
Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images They started off shaky, but the Huskers only got stronger as the match went on. The Huskers sweep the Wolverines, 29-27, 25-17, 25-14. Harper Murray’s return home wasn’t an easy three set win. The Huskers started off rough and committed a lot of errors early in set one. This has been a theme for them so far early in these B1G Ten road games. Michigan got off to a lead early and made the Huskers fight from behind for the...
| Photo by Tyler Schank/NCAA Photos via Getty Images Can the Huskers go 15-0? Will the Huskers remain undefeated as they head to Harper Murray’s hometown to take on her sister, Kendall Murray and the rest of the Michigan Wolverines? Michigan is coming in after their first B1G Ten win against Northwestern last night. As the Huskers overcame a slow start to take down Michigan State in four. | Photo by Brian Bahr/Getty Images I cannot believe I forgot this, but here it is! There are some damned good games going on right now! |
Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images This is why Matt Rhule makes the big bucks. To make decisions that he believes will help his football team. It sure looks like a big one last week worked against illinois. I do have to admit that at least for me personally, the idea of having a long physical scrimmage the day immediately following a football game was an unorthodox decision by Matt Rhule. I do not think I’ve seen it before. Some thought it was a bad idea....
Ron Johnson-USA TODAY Sports I should be a little happy, but I’m not. Injuries/no injuries, it’s a W, but Nebraska’s multi-year inability to put a game away was on display. Tonight’s battle of Big 10 West teams with 2-3 records couldn’t just be a simple trip to Champaign, IL, nope it couldn’t. The Huskers were coming off a 45-7 thrashing by the #2 Michigan Wolverines, but Illinois seemed to be in a worse place having taken it in the teeth 44-19 from Purdue. And then...
Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images Nebraska wins a pretty damned ugly game over the Fighting Illini from Illinois. It was a very long game that featured both teams trying their best to give the game away to the other team. Our beloved Huskers had so many chances to put this game away, but instead chose to turn the ball over repeatedly. It made you anxious, didn’t it? As much as it played on your anxiety, let me be clear – there was NO POINT in...
Dylan Widger-USA TODAY Sports The Huskers pull away with a 3-1 win after another slow start The Huskers pulled out the win after yet another slow start on the road. This seems to be the name of the game when we are on the road. Hopefully tomorrow, against Michigan, they will actually play in front and not have to come from behind. Yet again service errors were an issue for both teams. Both teams ended the game with 15 errors each. Looks like John Cook...
