Dylan Widger-USA TODAY Sports The elder statesman in the room this upcoming spring is no other than Heinrich Haarberg. The other two scholarship quarterbacks are early enroll true freshmen in Daniel Kaelin and Dylan Raiola. This does not make me feel great about the upcoming season. Unless Haarberg makes a big jump this season (which I am hoping for) then Nebraska is left with starting either a highly regarded true freshmen or a highly regarded true freshman. Neither is ideal at this point which might...
Photo by Ali Gradischer/Getty Images Have college sports become too big to succeed? Greetings from a snowy segment of Nebraska. The snow led to cancellations of both softball and baseball games on Sunday. March Madness hasn’t seemed all that mad this season. Maybe that is because our beloved Huskers couldn’t pull off upsets in the Big Dance. The Big Ten has looked rough in both tournaments. Have the Huskers achieved some success in both the men’s and women’s standings because the conference overall is down?...
Photo by Howard Lao/NCAA Photos via Getty Images The Huskers end their season in Corvallis despite a scrappy effort on defense Nebraska played a great defensive game, but couldn’t get enough out of their offense to move on to the Sweet Sixteen. Oregon State’s defense was everything it was made out to be – holding Nebraska to one double digit scorer in Jaz Shelley (10). Markowski and Stewart each contributed eight points. Markowski grabbed eight rebounds and Shelley six. Jaz also had seven assists. The...
Photo by Howard Lao/NCAA Photos via Getty Images Can the Huskers get an upset and advance to the Sweet Sixteen? Nebraska needed every bit of the lead developed over the first three quarters to hang on for the two-point win vs Texas A&M. Oregon State is playing on their home floor and features some of the same strengths as Nebraska – quality play in the paint, rebounding, defense, and a plethora of three-point shooters. One thing to watch is the Beavers star 6’4” forward, Raegen...
Photo by Howard Lao/NCAA Photos via Getty Images Nebraska gets ready to go to battle with Oregon State Sunday afternoon Nebraska fought out a gritty win against Texas A&M on Saturday night. The Huskers saw a 17 point lead dwindle down and at one point lost said lead, but with a few clutch steals and some much needed free throws, NU claimed the 61-59 win. With a rare off night from Jaz Shelley (2-11 FG) someone had to step up. That someone? Freshman guard Logan...

Nebraska Athletics Seven Husker pitchers combined to give up zero earned runs. After a 59 minute weather delay that saw sub freezing temperatures and everything from rain to sleet to snow flurries so thick it was hard to see the field for a few minutes, the Huskers and Aggies were able to get above the “Real Feel” cutoff temperature and play some baseball. The bats didn’t get the memo though. The sprinkled in some hits early mixed with a few walks, but neither team was...
Joscelyn Hynes In a game delayed for over an hour because of snow and played in mid-30’s chill, the Huskers crossed the plate 16 times – 12 in the 4th inning alone – aided by 8 Illinois errors. If you follow the UFC at all, you’ve undoubtedly seen one of those knockouts where a dude gets decked and the winner flies over and delivers two or three headshots to the unconscious fighter before the ref can tackle or push him off. It’s one of those...
| Nebraska’s Brock Hardy, seen here after a dual in 2023, is into Saturday’s consolation semifinal round at the NCAA Championships in Kansas City, Mo. He clinched All-American honors for the second time in his career. | Dylan Guenther / Corn Nation Tying the most in his career, head coach Mark Manning has clinched five All-Americans at the NCAA Championships After a solid Day 1 at the NCAA Championships, Nebraska struggled in Friday’s quarterfinal round before bouncing back in the night session to secure five All-Americans.... |
Photo by Howard Lao/NCAA Photos via Getty Images Amy Williams gets her first NCAA win as a Husker coach on her birthday Nebraska earned their first NCAA tournament win under Amy Williams. The game looked to be in-hand for the Huskers for most of the contest, but A&M made a late surge to force Nebraska to dig deep. The Huskers knew what to do and gave their coach a win on her birthday. Nebraska’s most dependable player (Markowski; 16 points) and a freshie in her...
| Brett Sears dominant vs. Aggies | Nebraska Athletic Department Garrett Anglim had a 3-4 day and five RBI When you play baseball at Haymarket Park in March, there’s a really good chance the wind is going to be blowing from the north. This is one of those nights that you worry a little bit about pitchers in terms of them being loose and confident with their stuff as any mistakes could end up out of the ball park. Nebraska moved the Westphalia Wonder, Brett Sears... |
Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports And the wait continues… First Half Analysis: Texas A%M came into this contest with one of the worst shooting percentages from the floor and from the 3-point line. Well, the Aggies blew that theory right out of the water. Both teams starting shooting the lights out of the gym, as Texas A&M and Nebraska started a combined 7-8 from deep in the opening 4 minutes. Wade Taylor IV and Keisei Tominaga got into a shooters duel, as Taylor had 17 in...
