| The Devaney Center crowd will bring the noise and the energy which is worth a few points There are so many parts of this match to be excited about, I have trouble settling down to write about just one. Two of the most storied programs in college volleyball history will write another chapter. Both programs have so much to be proud of in the past, and are poised to have an outstanding 2024 season. Let’s start with their histories and move on to present day... |
| Stephen Bruce The Husker volleyball team will take on two top ten opponents in the next five days. I think as Husker fans we have a bit of a problem with always wanting more, always wanting things to be better. I’ve heard some complaining about the game on Saturday, particularly about the defense. But I think we have to remember that the end result is what matters. Yes, the defense didn’t look as good as it did in the previous weeks, but they still only... |
| Tonight I’ll be reviewing the game against Northern Iowa and previewing our first Big Ten game of 2024 against Illinois on Friday night. We’re going to look at how the two teams stack up, Nebraska and Illinois. Both teams are ranked. I believe Nebraska has a 24-game losing streak against ranked teams. Isn’t that friggin’ amazing? Does Nebraska have anything to fear from Illinois? They’re coming into the game 3-0, just like Nebraska. How is their offense? How is their defense? What are their strengths... |
| Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images This week on Con Nation Overreaction, Greg and Hoss discuss this unusual situation in which Nebraska fans find themselves…the fourth quarter is boring and we don’t know that to do. Let me be clear on this – we echo HC Matt Rhule’s position that a boring fourth quarter is in fact good. The more guys we are able to get into the game in those situations is good. We don’t need to be Notre Dame scoring 66 points against a... |
| Photo by Justin Casterline/Getty Images The pre-season is over, or some would say the non-conference season is over, and Nebraska football better get ready for some of these teams on the upcoming schedule. Nebraska has played UTEP, Colorado and Northern Iowa. While we thought Colorado would be a huge game, and it certainly was, we can also walk away knowing that the Buffaloes are not a good team and to Nebraska’s credit they did exactly what they should have done to that team. The game... |

| Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images Nebraska will host a matchup of ranked teams this Friday night! The Husker football team is 3-0 after a decisive win vs Northern Iowa. The game was never in doubt, but it still left Husker fans with questions, especially about the run defense and the third quarter offense. Nebraska moved up a couple spots in the rankings and their next opponent, Illinois, entered the polls after beating Kansas a week ago and Central Michigan on Saturday. The Illini are also... |
| Former Husker Jordan Burroughs just made his 12th World Team in Omaha this weekend. | Photo by Elsa/Getty Images Nebraska greats Jordan Burroughs and James Green wrestled through the World Team Trials this weekend in Omaha with both of them winning their bracket to punch a ticket to another World Championships together It’s official — Jordan Burroughs and James Green are back. Both former Husker greats, Burroughs and Green each won their brackets this weekend in Omaha at the World Team Trials, claiming a couple... |
| Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images Nebraska is 3-0. Yes, Northern Iowa did have success moving the ball on the Huskers at times on Saturday night, but they only gave up 3 points. Yes, one could argue that Nebraska hasn’t really played anybody, and they probably are right. But still: Nebraska is 3-0. Let’s put that in perspective: Nebraska hasn’t been 3-0 in football since 2016. Nebraska wasn’t a great team that season – especially at the end. But you cannot deny that the 2024 Huskers... |
| Stephen Bruce Nebraska moves to 3-0 on the season, beating Northern Iowa, a FCS school, by the score 34-3. The game was, well, the game was pretty good for Nebraska. The team played good all around. Dylan Raiola was masterful as the offense racked up 423 yards, including 281 pass yardage and 142 rushing. The defense gave up 301 yards to the Panthers, 162 passing, 139 yard rushing – I bet you thought it was more, didn’t you? A whole gob of Nebraska guys played.... |
| BETTER AND BETTER. | Stephen Bruce Ah, sure, I’m nitpicking, but it’s happier nitpicking when we win. The only people nervously watching the end of this one were the gamblers who got in on the 30-point spread as Northern Iowa marched down the field trailing 34-3 with under two minutes left. In the end, a 4th and goal came up just short and those wagering fools sweating it out could breathe easy. Everyone else in red knew that lead was more than enough to carry... |
| Memorial Stadium after dark for the 2nd straight week. I can get used to this. And I better since it’s happening again Friday. | Andy Ketterson Business is being taken care of…somewhat. Who wants to play good news, bad news?? Me either, but here we are. It’s not that bad. The offense was in machine-like efficiency mode doing the following in four drives: 8 plays, 75 yards, TD. 7 plays, 75 yards, YD. 4 plays, 80 yards TD. 6 plays, 41 yards, lost ball on... |
