Nebraska takes care of business despite an early Maryland lead The Huskers were back in action for game 2 of a 3 game series against the Maryland Terrapins today looking to get, at least, the win in the series. Tomorrow’s game will determine if they sweep or not. While Nebraska was hoping to run-rule Maryland, the Terrapins took them through all 7 innings today, but the Huskers still got the win. Hannah Camenzind finally got the start today after Kylee Magee did not have a... |
Nebraska Athletics With five teams in contention for the top 4 spots in the Big 10, the Huskers avoided a rampaging Friday upset bug & local lightning strikes to defeat Maryland. On a Friday which felt more like Halloween than May Day, the Nebraska Cornhuskers took care of Maryland while lightning twice appeared in their game and the top of the Big 10 burned. Lightning first delayed the Huskers-Maryland game for over an hour in the top of the 2nd inning and then for another... |
Nebraska and Minnesota opener delayed by weather but clear skies prevailed to start the series | Todd Wolverton Nebraska ties it late, but can’t notch the win Will Walsh (4-6, 5.27 ERA) has struggled in his last couple of starts, after going toe-to-toe against the Big Ten’s best, Cade Obermueller in a fantastic duel back on April 11 in Iowa City. That night he went seven innings and gave up but two hits. Against both Northwestern and Maryland, the veteran lefty from Leawood, Kansas, was... |

Nebraska Athletics A good weekend in Seattle has put the Huskers in a good position – but business still must stood upon with a strong finish against the lowly Terrapins. Even with being run-ruled on Saturday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers still had a successful weekend in Seattle taking two of three from Washington, a solid Quad 1 opponent, and brought their record against such teams to 12-10. They hit well against a very good pitching staff and kept their composure against a very loud Washington crowd.... |
Photo by Ian Maule/Getty Images Hat tip to Robin Washut at On3.com for pointing out that Nebraska apparently has a new general manager. While they went through a thorough search process it looks like they hired within. Luca Virgilio, who was previously the Director of Basketball Strategies and Business Operations, is now Fred Hoiberg’s new general manager. Just like football, the world of NIL has changed basketball and it will continue to move in the direction of looking more and more like a professional product.... |
Photo by Nathanial George/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images On this episode of the Five Heart Podcast, hosts Greg and Minnie, joined by their spirited community, celebrated Nebraska football’s major recruiting win: the commitment of 2027 four-star quarterback Trey Taylor. Taylor’s dramatic commitment video—initially faking out with an Illinois hat—sparked both excitement and controversy, especially after he received backlash from Illinois fans. The hosts discussed Taylor’s impressive sophomore stats and his potential, while acknowledging the unpredictability of early commitments in today’s NIL-driven landscape. The conversation shifted... |
Nebraska continues its run of highly touted quarterbacks with the commitment of Trae Taylor (6-3, 186 lbs) from Carmel Catholic in Mundelein, Illinois. Taylor is a 4-star recruit and ranked 35th nationally and the third quarterback according to the 247 composite rankings. Matt Rhule is stockpiling real talent in the quarterback room with the addition of Taylor. LSU recruited Taylor, as did Texas A&M, and Big Ten rival Illinois. He is the first commitment for the 2027 class, but quarterbacks commit early to secure the... |
Nebraska Athletics Current and potential future national awards are here on the horizon for Jordy Bahl. And fan events and TV are in store for the Huskers final home & regular season games. The Nebraska Cornhuskers enter their final Big 10 series and regular season games virtually assured of post-season outcomes barring some strange and wonderful/atrocious things happening for them and around the league. Also, Jordy Bahl is getting some serious national attention as the post-season and voting on national awards arrives. And the series... |
Photo Illustration by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images Don’t forget the joke of the week… We have officially reached May. I’m not overly certain that this is still a thing, but back in my day we would make May Day baskets for friends and play “ding dong ditch” and try to get back into the car before they tagged you. It was basically a great way for parents to try and get rid of plastic easter eggs and easter candy. More importantly, it was a fun way... |
