The Northeast Kansans for Nebraska chapter of the Nebraska Alumni Association has set up a student scholarship program for the sons and daughters of our chapter members or others who reside in Northeast Kansas who wish to attend the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL).

The chapter awards three annual scholarships to UNL. Two are scholarships ($1500 each) provided by our chapter members and a third ($1000) awarded as the Bob Elliott memorial scholarship.

The process is handled through the UNL Foundation. Students may apply for one of the scholarships as follows:

New students or those transferring to UNL:

  • Submit an application for admission to University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
  • Make sure to use your permanent Kansas address when submitting the application as a search will be done as our scholarships require a Northeast Kansas address and zip code.
  • When contacting the financial aid department at UNL, make sure to tell them you are interested in one of the Northeast Kansans for Nebraska Alumni Chapter scholarships.
  • You will get priority consideration by UNL financial aid if your family/parents are members of Northeast Kansans for Nebraska alumni chapter so make sure your membership is current.

Current UNL student’s criteria:

  • Students must be in good standing with the university.
  • The application must be done before February 1 of each year.
  • Go to MyRed and apply to be considered for the Northeast Kansas for a Nebraska scholarship.
  • When contacting the financial aid department at UNL, make sure to tell them you are interested in the Northeast Kansans for Nebraska Alumni Chapter scholarship.
