The Northeast Kansans for Nebraska isn’t just a fun place to socialize with other Husker fans.  We are proud of the support our members have provided to students pursuing a college education at the University of Nebraska.  Since 2001, we have been able to provide 20 students with more than $16,000 in scholarships from money that our members have contributed.  Currently, our goal is to provide $1,000 each year to two students from northeast Kansas.

Last year, the Northeast Kansans for Nebraska established the Road to Nebraska scholarship campaign to support the funding of this program.  Thanks to the generosity of our members we were able to raise $2,320 for our scholarship fund.  Again this year, we are asking you to donate to this effort so that we as a group can continue to support students from the area who wish to study at the University of Nebraska.

Those who contribute to this program will be displayed on a special page on our website under the following giving categories (you also have the option of donating anonymously):

  • Walk-On Level: $25
  • Varsity Level: $50
  • All-Conference Level: $100
  • All American Level: $250
  • Hall of Fame Level: $500 or more

A prize drawing will be held at NEKS4NE Annual Picnic held on Saturday, August 12.  All members who have donated to the campaign by the submission deadline of July 21 will be entered into a drawing to win one of the three following great Husker prizes:

  • Husker Rock from Fisher Rocks
  • 1995 National Championship pewter plate
  • 1970 National Championship glass

In addition, any member contributing at the All-American Level or higher will receive a NEKS4NE logo mug.

To contribute to the program, all you have to do is complete the attached form NE KS 4 NE – 2017 Road to Nebraska Scholarship Donation Form and send it with your check to the address on the form.  Remember, send in your form and check before July 21 to qualify for the prize drawing.  Northeast Kansans for Nebraska is a 501(c)7 organization, under the umbrella of the Nebraska Alumni Association’s 501(c)3 tax classification, so your contribution may be tax deductible.  Consult your tax preparer to determine for sure.

Helping students to obtain an education from the University of Nebraska has been a long-standing goal of this organization.  That can only happen with your ongoing support.  We appreciate your generosity toward this effort in the past and ask that you continue to support this important effort.

Thanks and, as always, GO BIG RED!!!!
