Matt Rhule is in his fourth season as Nebraska’s head coach. He has won as many games in three seasons (19) as the Huskers won in the five seasons before his arrival. <\/b><\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rhule enters 2026 with 13 years of head-coaching experience, including 10 in college and three with the NFL\u2019s Carolina Panthers. A proven program builder and player developer, he led turnarounds at Baylor and Temple and has matched or improved Nebraska\u2019s record in each of his first three seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nebraska begins its season on September 5 against Ohio in Memorial Stadium at Lincoln. The Huskers will look to build on the momentum of their recent improvement and open the 2026 season with a strong performance at home. The matchup will provide an opportunity for Nebraska’s returning players and newcomers to establish themselves as the team begins another season under Matt Rhule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
