The Northeast Kansans for Nebraska are proud of the support our members have provided to students pursuing a college education at the University of Nebraska.  Since 2001, we have been able to provide 28 students from northeast Kansas with more than $25,000 in scholarships.  Past recipients of our scholarships include:

  • Brian Cast graduated in 2014 and worked as a news director at TV stations in Lincoln and San Diego.
  • Casey Murphy graduated with an electrical engineering degree and currently works for an engineering firm in Kansas City
  • Skyler Dykes graduated in 2020, is currently serving as the interim director for Nebraskans for the Arts and plans to continue graduate school in the fall.

These, and other students, were able to achieve their goals thanks to the generosity of our members.  We are asking you again this year to donate to this effort so that we as a group can continue to support students from the area who want to study at the University of Nebraska. Our goal is to provide $1,500 each year to two students from northeast Kansas.

Those who contribute to this program will be displayed on a special page on our website under the following giving categories (you also have the option of donating anonymously or in someone else’s honor):

  • Walk-On Level: $25
  • Varsity Level: $50
  • All-Conference Level: $100
  • All American Level: $250
  • Hall of Fame Level: $500 or more

A prize drawing will be held at our Annual Picnic on July 31st for all who have donated to the campaign by the submission deadline of July 26thIn addition, any member contributing at the All-American Level or higher can have their choice of a Northeast Kansans for Nebraska logoed glass mug or stemless wine glass.

To contribute to the program, all you need to do is complete the attached form and send it with your check to the address on the form.  Remember, send in your form and check before July 26th to qualify for the prize drawing.  Northeast Kansans for Nebraska is a 501(c)7 organization, under the umbrella of the Nebraska Alumni Association’s 501(c)3 tax classification, so your contribution may be tax deductible.  Consult your tax preparer to determine for sure.

Helping students to obtain an education from the University of Nebraska has been a long-standing goal of this organization.  That can only happen with your ongoing support.  We appreciate your amazing generosity toward this effort in the past and ask that you continue to support this important effort.

Thanks, and as always, GO BIG RED!!!!

Appreciatively,
