One of the most important activities our Northeast Kansans for Nebraska Alumni chapter does is provide three annual financial scholarships to local students attending the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Two $1,500 annual scholarships are provided by our chapter members and a third $1,000 annual scholarship is awarded as the Bob Elliott Memorial Scholarship.

If you have a son or daughter, grandson, or granddaughter, attending UNL or enrolling for the 2023-2024 school year at UNL, the deadline for the application process is approaching. Because our members work so hard on the fund-raising process and support our chapter efforts, preference is given to students of current members, then to students in our immediate Topeka region. We will send in our list of current members to the UNL Foundation soon. If you would like your scholarship applicant to be on the preferred list, you need to be a member of Northeast Kansans for Nebraska! Become a member by completing the membership form (linked below) and mailing it to Susan Vargas, 2130 SW Pondview Drive, Topeka, KS 66614.

Even though the document says the application deadline is February 1, the foundation may take applications during the month of February, or if not awarded, later than that too, but don’t delay.
