If you have seen unidentified flying objects in the night sky over Nebraska, you are not alone. How about that Nebrasketball team? So far, the men and ladies basketball teams have wins over the Hawkeyes. Let’s hope the football team was taking notes.

I tried a small experiment this past year. I decided to take a picture every day of the same spot on the ranch and create a video from them. I got pictures on 325 days – but forget a few (or wasn’t around to get one).
The result are mixed. I like the idea, but didn’t do a good job lining up the images to create a seamless transition between frames. It is a herky jerky video.
Also, I used Adobe Spark to create it. I normally love that program, but a long video like this one made Spark really unstable and it was really unpleasant finishing the video as it kept crashing every few seconds as I added the last 30 or 40 pictures. Spark is also unwieldy in trying to change default settings. I had to alter the display time for every single one of the 325 slides rather than being able to change the default time each image showed.
But, I am trying again. This year, I picked a view toward the east and will try to get a few of those gorgeous sunrises we are treated to in Nebraska. I am also trying harder to line up the images a little better so the video is smoother. And, I’m definitely going to try a different program to stitch them together into a video. If you have suggestions for me, put them in the comments!
My video did not capture any wayward drones. If you didn’t know, there have been several sightings of drones in the sky all the way from northeast Colorado to the Omaha metro area. They appear to be benign thus far, but have even led to the creation of a task force to figure out where they are coming from.
