Not much meat but that won’t stop us from taking a bite anyway Did we learn much from the spring game? Maybe. Maybe not.

The defense looked like they had the upper hand much of the time. But…
with so few running backs playing and the top wideout sitting out, the offense wasn’t playing with all their chess pieces.
The offensive line didn’t look great, but the coaches have been telling us all spring that this group still isn’t on the same page…we’ll need to see a big leap by fall. The amount of youth on that squad does still give me hope that can happen.
The coaches weren’t lying when they said they wanted the tight ends to be more involved in the pass game. There were series where it was obvious that is what they were working on…with mixed results.
Quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco has an exciting understudy to tutor in freshman Luke McCaffrey. The solid coaching in that room was evident in QB play throughout the day (especially Vedral – who seems to be the frontrunner for the backup job) but the youngster was clearly a crowd favorite in the section where I was sitting.
